That’s right.
Even though king (in many different levels) isn’t in present, the show must go on.

Yeah, non-HD games aren’t too sexy, are they?
Wanna see something sexy though? Paula Creamer in mo-cap suit.

Nothing sexier than a healthy female athletic in a mo-cap suit, especially for us geeks.
We’re not sure if the same mo-cap was used for Wii version though.

The game will be released on June 8th, 2010.

J-horror game Calling for the Wii

J-horror game Calling for the Wii

Posted on 10 March 2010 by GillRider

I’ve mentioned before my love for horror films. Being born and raised in Japan, I especially love J-horror. In J-horror, it’s all about the atmosphere. There’s rarely any gore or action. The pace, music, and tone really bring the creepiness up to an extreme, and only at the end do you truly see what you’ve been really scared about. So it brings me much joy to see games like Calling come out.

Like Siren or the Fatal Frame series, Calling is a horror game inspired by the Japanes Horror genre. The premise of the game is actually a bit unclear, which only adds to the mystery you are tasked to unfold. Calling  revolves around mysterious website called “Black Page,” which is rumored to suck the living into the Mnemonic Abyss.

Through the eyes of four protagonists, you must seek the truth behind the “Black Page,” and escape the Mnemonic Abyss before an untimely death.

This type of game actually looks like it could be perfect for the Wii. You will be using flash lights, phones, and other items to navigate your way through the Mnemonic Abyss. This seems like the perfect set-up for the Wii Remote, and I can definitely see it adding to the experience. As you’ll see in the trailer, it looks like you might even be taking phone calls via the speaker on the Wii Remote! That definitely brings the atmosphere into the real world.

As a J-horro junkie, it looks like I’m definitely going to have to give this game a try. Calling is available now at a decent price of $39.99. Check it!

Metroid: Other M trailer and fact sheet

Posted on 03 March 2010 by GillRider

I am quite excited for this one. This will be the newest installment in the Metroid franchise, and it looks like it will be taking a entirely new approach to the game, while mixing the best components of its previous chapters. Just look at the trailer! I’ve never seen such a story and drama driven cutscene for Metroid. We’ll just let the trailer and fact sheet do all the talking.

Game Information

Metroid Franchise’s Heroine Gets Personal
For decades, Samus Aran has been known as one of the first female protagonists in video games, and one of the most enigmatic. Having traded her haunted past for the solitary life of a bounty hunter, Samus™ finally tells her own tale in this revealing, personal story of her failings, her flaws and ultimately her motivation. Metroid: Other M is an unprecedented collaboration that blends the slick, action-packed production of the world-renowned Team Ninja development team with the game design talents of the creators of the original Metroid. Metroid: Other M is a dramatic new direction for a legendary franchise and a bold new blend between cinematics, storytelling and the best in interactive entertainment.

FEATURES:

Metroid: Other M takes the best elements of 1st-person and 3rd-person gaming to create a seamless blend between gameplay, story-telling and dynamic cinematography, that feels like a movie the player can control. Players hold the Wii Remote™ controller sideways while navigating and battling in 3rd-person. However, at any moment, players can switch immediately to Wii Remote pointer controls to examine and explore the environments in 1st-person perspective.
Metroid fans know more about Samus’ suits and weapons than they do about what drives her. That’s about to change. The story begins immediately following the events of Super Metroid, when a baby Metroid gave its life to protect Samus. With voice acting and a rich story, players learn the engaging backstory of Samus as she weaves through an action-packed adventure aboard the Bottle Ship, a decommissioned space facility. As she hurtles into this new adventure, Samus will encounter her first mentor and Commanding Officer of the Galactic Federation, Adam Malkovich.
The development of Metroid: Other M is an exciting collaboration between Nintendo’s Yoshio Sakamoto and Team Ninja. Sakamoto was the director of Super Metroid in 1994. Team Ninja is the renowned action developer of Ninja Gaiden. Metroid: Other M pairs Sakamoto’s expert level design and exploratory focus of the classic Metroid series with Team Ninja’s signature stylish, no-holds-barred action.

Details for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for Wii

Posted on 17 February 2010 by GillRider

The latest installment of the Prince of Persia series, as mentioned in a previous article, will be hitting pretty much all gaming platforms. The features list detailed below are specifically for the Wii. Apparently, this Prince of Persia is going to be “built from the ground-up” for the Wii, using the hardware’s capabilities to the fullest.

Though we have a features list, it doesn’t address some of the key questions gamers may have, regarding the Wii version; an obvious one being will the motion sensor have some form of functionality within the game? If they do, I hope they don’t make it a gimmicky one and make it an actually worthwhile experience. Keep your fingers crossed!

Features List:

• Classic Gameplay Reinvented: By utilizing the Prince’s acrobatic prowess, players will be able to perform unparalleled feats from maneuvering through treacherous traps and combating massive enemies, to solving elaborate puzzles in an effort to survive.

• Create Your Own Path: The Prince will possess supreme mastery over his environment and enemies. By manipulating his power over sand, The Prince will uncover new areas to explore that will only be accessible by wielding his new powers, skills and abilities.

• Impressive Graphics for Wii: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands utilizes advanced technologies to deliver a smooth, clear and impressive graphical experience on the Wii. With 15 hours of original storyline as well as alternate paths, secret areas and unlockables, The Forgotten Sands™ provides players with a significant adventure that rewards exploration and encourages replay ability.

• A Blockbuster Experience: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will treat players to a variety of unforgettable locales that complement the Wii’s unique controls and capabilities. Epic in-game moments aim to have fans on the edge of their seats as the Prince battles with ferocious beasts and colossal

Rooms: The Main Building in stores this March

Posted on 10 February 2010 by GillRider

We love puzzles here at gamersroute. We really do. But I’ve realized that many of the puzzle games I play are really colorful tetris evolutions with techno or upbeat music. Perhaps it’s time I’ve expanded my puzzling horizon to something a bit more mysterious and serious. Enter Rooms: The Main Building for the DS and Wii.

Rooms: The Main Building, is basically a point-and-click game, with a 1930s setting. You are given the task of advancing through the each room, to reach the next room. But of course, in order to advance, there’s a catch; you have to solve the puzzle.

As far as we can tell, the puzzles involved in this game are all related to creating a path from the entrance to the exit. And how do you do that? By sliding rooms around to allow your character to go from the entrance to the exit.

Along the way, you will be required to use various objects in the room either to create a path, or move you to a different part of the screen, like, for example, speaking into a payphone and being teleported to another pay phone a la Matrix.

I’ve never really been a fan of point-and-click style games,  but mixed with this style of puzzling, this looks very interesting.

Rooms: The Main Building will be available on March 23, 2010.

Nintendo to release pink and blue Wii remotes and more

Posted on 14 December 2009 by GillRider

Nintendo has just been popping out games, both on disc and in downloadable format, like crazy, and they are defiintely looking to keep this momentum for this holiday season. We’ve recieved a huge list of Wii and DS/DSi releases. I will highlight some of them below, and for those interested, the list will be posted at the bottom of the article. Enjoy!

First and foremost, check out these Wii Remotes! Starting February 14th, 2010, gamers will be able to play the Wii  with Blue and Pink Wii remotes. They will come bundled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory. Now, onto the games!

This is the game I’m looking forward to, above all, from Nintendo: Tastunoko VS Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. This is going to be awesome! Some of you may remember that I played this at PAX back in September. The control scheme is very different from any of the VS fighting games that capcom has released, creating a unique feel to this title. Fighting fans are definitely in for a treat with this one. This one is set to release for January 26, 2010

Tatsunoko-vs-Capcom-Ultimate-All-Stars-06

I’m gonna be honest with you guys here; I’m looking forward to the next Pokemon installment. I’m not ashamed to say it. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are the next gen portable remake of Pokemon Gold and Silver, released back in 1999. Pokemon Gold was the first Pokemon I played, and none of its predecessors nor successors have come close to beating my initial Pokemon experience. I’m excited to relive that experience on the DS, with enhance gameplay and graphics. There. I said it. I like Pokemon. Watch out for this in on March 14, 2010.

One more game worth looking into is WarioWare D.I.Y. This will be the newest installment of the WarioWare series, and arguably the most interesting one. You will actually be able to design your own micro-games and share them with others via a broadband Internet connection and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. You will have total control over the micro-games, from characters and environemtns, to the action and purpose of these micro-games. This one is set for release on March 28, 2010.NTR_WarioWareD_02char1_E3_jpg_jpgcopy

Rubik’s Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH for WiiWare

Posted on 03 November 2009 by GillRider

Two Tribes, the creators of such games as Worms: Open Wargare 2 for the NDS, has announced a new series of puzzle games for WiiWare inspired by the 80s cult classic, the Rubik’s Cube.

rubiksrushrun3

I’m sure all you puzzle/Rubik’s cube fans are drooling over this one. Rubik’s Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH provides 70 levels of brain busting, 3D puzzles through which players must “herd” colored cubes to their exit points using conveyer belts, warps and stop signs. With the addition of leaderboards, you can host tournaments with prizes for the high scores.

rubiksrushrubiksclassicmulti

Furthermore, you have the option to take back to the 80s with an original Rubik’s Cube, complete with tutorials on how to solve them! Back in the day, I could never solve these things, so this little feature is VERY exciting for me. Take a look at the feature list:

Rubik’s Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH Highlights:
• Original 3D puzzle solving gameplay
• More than 70 brain-busting levels
• Tailor-made Wii Remote™ control scheme
• Conveyer Belts, Warps, Stop Signs, Directional Signs, Splits, and more.
• Stylish environments
• Classic Rubik’s Cube in four sizes
• Tutorial on how to solve the original Rubik’s Cube
• Unique score mode
• Online leaderboards

Nintendo releases yet another 8 titles for the WiiWare, Nintendo DSiWare, and Virtual Console.

Nintendo DSiWare
Sparkle Snapshots
Price:
500 Nintendo DSi points

I knew this was going to happen. I’m sure some of you know this, but a popular pass time for Japanese youth at one point was to go to “Purikura” (short for Print Club). The “Purikura” is a booth where you and your friends can go in, take a picture, and then add all kinds of effects like sparkles, birhgt lights, draw, paint, etc and print them out. Well now you can do that all in the palm of your hands with the Nintendo DSi. You can even send these pics to friends via the DS wireless communications.

Viking Invasionvikds4eng
Price: 800 Nintendo DSi points

Finally! A tower defense game for the NDSi! Fortify your castle as Olaf the Viking and his horde of pillagers raid your land. They’ll be coming at you with armies of vikings, and legions of fantastic creatures straight out of the mythical land of Asgard. As you gain experience, you’ll be able to build even stronger defenses. With a Campaign and Survivial Mode, as well as three difficulty levels, this one looks to be a fun little purchase.

Battle of Giants: Dragons – Bronze Edition
Price:
800 Nintendo DSi points

Play as the last Bronze Dragon as you venture on a quest ot defeat the evil SLAMU dragons and reclaim the 25 exclusive bronze gems they stole. Explore, customize and battle with your bronze dragon, and even enter into a 4-player tournament!

WiiWare
Carnival King
Price:
700 Wii points
Visit three different amusement parks; Arcadia, Dreamland and Lagoon with your friends to compete in all of your favorite carnival games. Each park provides 4 sets of gamea and a Bonus Round. With adjustable difficulty settings, this game is suitable from the novice players to the keenest of sharpshooters.

“Aha! I Got It!” Escape Game
Price:
500 Wii Points
So it’s Milo’s birthday today. What did he get for his present? A room full of puzzle! You’ll have to shake, push and twist the Wii Remote to collect and use items to solve all the puzzles to escape the room. I’m not sure if I personally would like incarceration in a room full of puzzles for my birthday. But then againa, it might fun…?

Family Card Games
Price: 500 Wii Points
I know, it sounds like another lame family game. But I was surprised to find that this game offers Daifugo as one of their card games. This is a Japanese card game. The title literally translates to Big Rich Man, and plays a lot like a game of Thirteen, or A$$hole. Who knows, maybe this could be your next drinking game.

Virtual Console
Fighting Street
Price:
800 Wii points
A port of the original arcade version of Street Fighter. I’m sure there are a good handful Street Fighter fans that have never actually played the original Street Fighter. Honestly, there’s no comparison to the recent Street Fighter games, but as a fan, I think it’s definitely worth trying out; you’ll definitely gain a new found respect and appreciation for how far this series has come.fighting_street_mobile

R-Type
Price:
500 Wii points
Yet another classic. A unique side-scrolling shooter developed in 1987, R-Type is one of the most famous shooters out there. You must navigate through 8 levels  to defeat the evil Bydo Empire. And like any good side-scrolling shooter, this game will test the extremities of your reflexes. Relive the intensity!

Collision Studios and Virtual Play Games announce City Builder

Posted on 20 October 2009 by ClassicMoments

They call it puzzle game, we call it more-like-a-strategy kind of game.

But whatever it is, it’s going to be released on Wii, and it plays like a light version of the original SimCity. It’s City Builder.

If you look at the screenshots with the cities, it looks like SimCity, but with scoreboard with multipliers, I guess it’s more like a puzzle game. Maybe a video can explain it to us better.

So the players build roads and underground pipes for creating cities. We have to wonder why it would only be released for Wii, because this type of game is perfect for the PC platform as well.

The game will be available for Wii on February 2010.

Wiimote and Nunchuck coming in black for North America

Posted on 14 October 2009 by ClassicMoments

Nintendo of America will introduce a new color for your Wii Remote (or Wiimote) and Nunchuck.

Wii-Remote-black

You get MotionPlus accessory as well.

Wii-Nunchuck-black

With this color, you don't have to clean your controllers so often. Wait..

Wait, is black considered as a color? Whatever.

Wiimote will cost you $49.99 and Nuncheck for $19.99.

The reason why Wiimote is such in high price is that it comes with the MotionPlus accessory. If you needed extra Wiimotes with MotionPlus, this can be a worthy purchase for you.

So, I think it’s safe to say that black Wii is coming to the states. We just don’t know how soon, but maybe sooner than we thought.
