One of my all time favorite PS3 games was Demon’s Souls. And this year, at E3, Namco Bandai games gave us a peak of it’s sequel, Dark Souls; this time available for both PS3 and Xbox360. And now Namco Bandai is asking its fans to take part in the actual design of this game. Starting, today, June 27th to July 28th, 2011, fans will be able to submit an original medieval design for a shield.
The contest can be found on the Dark Souls official Facebook page. Fans will be able to create up to three original shield designs using any of the three blank templates provided. After that, all you need to do is submit and upload your design, and wait for fans across the globe to vote for your design! There will be three winners in total, one for each template. The final winners will be hand-picked by the Dark Souls development team at FromSoftware in Japan, and will be available as Dark Souls post-launch content.
Voting will be open until July 20th. The top ten winning designs for each of the templates will then be sent to FromSoftware for a final decision, and the winner will be announced via Facebook on July 28th, 2011.
Each of the ten winners will receive a copy of Dark Souls signed by game director Hidetaka Miyazaki. The three final winners will not only have their design as a permanent mark in the Dark Souls universe, they will receive a signed copy of the limited edition game, plus their names in the game credits. Sweet.
