Three Capcom Hits in One Package

Posted on 10 August 2009 by ClassicMoments

SAN MATEO, CAAugust 10, 2009 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced the Platinum Hits Triple Pack for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This affordable collection of three of Capcom’s greatest games for the Xbox 360 will be available for a suggested retail price of $39.99 beginning September 8, 2009.

The Platinum Hits Triple Pack combines Dead Rising®, Lost Planet®: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition, & Devil May Cry® 4 all in one box. Each of these games has been awarded Platinum Hits “Best Seller” status and together have sold over 3 million units in North America alone. Any gamer who had the bad luck of missing these legendary titles, will now have a chance to redeem themselves for a great low price.

Dead Rising is an action horror game that follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist in pursuit of the story of a lifetime. What he finds is a small suburban town completely overrun by zombies. He seeks refuge in the local shopping mall, but soon learns it is far from the safe haven he had thought. Dead Rising takes place over 72 hours, during which Frank must unravel the mystery behind the catastrophe and survive the dangerous swarm of enemies that lie in wait. The unprecedented level of freedom provides players with a vast array of gameplay possibilities to do anything and everything they’ve wanted to do in a mall. Hundreds of unique objects can be used as weapons to fend off the hordes of zombies – everything from golf clubs and baseball bats to cash registers and stuffed animals.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a sci-fi third-person action shooter that offers an amazing single player experience offline and a heart-pounding multiplayer experience online. The adventure takes place on the frozen alien planet E.D.N. III. To survive, gamers will battle snow pirates, gigantic indigenous creatures known as Akrid and harvest the precious thermal energy found inside them. To do this they’ll utilize hi-tech weaponry and Vital Suits (VS ) – gigantic mechs used to traverse the treacherous frozen planet they’re on. In Lost Planet: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition, players get the same compelling single player experience found in the original game, with the addition of three new modes. In Score Attack, all enemies have points assigned to them and the score awarded will change depending on how they are defeated, with skilled marksmen being rewarded. For those who thrive on a challenge, Trial Battle Mode delivers, pitting players against all of the game’s bosses, one after another. Players of both Score Attack and Trial Battle modes will be able to compare their skills and compete for bragging rights via the online ranking system. Finally things get a little crazy with Off Limit Mode which lets players take on Lost Planet’s harsh environments and enemies with over-the-top, super-charged weapons and a powered-up grappling hook. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition was one of the first games to allow cross-platform connectivity from Xbox LIVE® to Games for Windows – LIVE, allowing console and Windows-based PC users to battle it out on the same online battlefield.

Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist, Nero, clashes with Dante, the featured character of the previous Devil May Cry® games. As Nero, players will unleash incredible attacks and non-stop combos using a unique new gameplay mechanic, his powerful “Devil Bringer” arm. Fans of Dante won’t be disappointed as he too will be playable during the course of the game. With the advanced graphics of the current game systems, high definition visuals and intricate detail come to life as players explore new and exotic locales. Dynamic action and undeniable style combine with unprecedented fighting options and a gripping story to produce the incomparable experience that only a Devil May Cry game can deliver.

Bionic Commando swings to Windows PCs

Posted on 28 July 2009 by ClassicMoments

If you somehow experienced the latest Bionic Commando for PS3 or Xbox 360, but only own a PC for the gaming system, your wait is finally over. The PC version of Bionic Commando is here.

Here are some features of Bionic Commando for PC:

  • Use the bionic arm to swing between towering skyscrapers at breathtaking speed, hook onto distant objects, zip up on hanging girders and choose your own route through the game
  • Gameplay that moves through horizontal and vertical environments – a 3D game that truly uses all three dimensions Full multiplayer mode with rich stat-tracking to check whether you’re a true commando or a lowly private
  • Use the power of the bionic arm – and of next-gen physics – to realistically throw massive objects, pummel opponents, whip enemies into the air, or pull the landscape apart
  • Arm yourself with a variety of weapons worthy of a Bionic Commando
  • Starring Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More, as the voice of Nathan Spencer
  • Developed by Swedish studio GRIN, developers of the highly acclaimed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter series for PC

We checked the minimum requirements for this game, and for CPU alone, Capcom recommends dual core. And looks like this game supports DX10 so if you’re lucky enough to own a pimped up PC, you can probably appreciate this title. The price for the PC version is $39.99, and it’s about $20 cheaper than the console versions.

And if you still have not played the popular remake of old version, Bionic Commando Rearmed, you can also bundle it up with this title for $44.99 on Steam. It sure can save up some money being a PC gamers these days.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 screenshots – Hulk vs Zangief

Posted on 06 July 2009 by ClassicMoments

Capcom  sent us an interesting screenshots of their upcoming title (jointly developed with Marvel), Marvel vs Capcom 2. It’s a fight between Hulk and Zangief.

It’s a very interesting fight indeed.
Just in case you missed our news about this title, here are some of the key features of this game:

• Over 50 characters from the Marvel and Capcom Universes!
• 3 on 3 tag-team matches
• New online matching mode, including Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix’s “Quarter Match” mode ; enjoy the arcade experience from your console
• New optional visual filter smoothes out the game’s graphics
• Four button controls introduce new players to fighting games; compatible with the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV joysticks and Fight Pad
• Available for the first time via digital distribution on Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network

If we remember correctly, this was one of the hard-to-find, rare title that people paid around $100 just to get hands on PS2 version. But it’ll be re-released on a digital form (Xbox LIVE Arcade and PSN) so consider yourself lucky if you wanted but couldn’t afford one until now.

New trailer and screenshots for Dead Rising 2

Posted on 30 April 2009 by ClassicMoments

If you haven’t noticed, ‘zombie’ is the next big horror thingy that everyone’s into.
Unless you really REALLY hate zombies to death, you can’t find any reason not to like it.

Even if you can’t handle the horror genre, I suggest that you try this one.
Not that I’m saying it’s not scary, but I think it’s a good way to break-in to the genre.
It’s actually fun killing(?) zombies!

Posted on 06 April 2009 by ClassicMoments

Capcom dropped us few lines about their upcoming titles (well, 1 DLC and 1 title to be exact), RE5 DLC and Flock!.

First, the RE5 Versus mode : you’ll be able to play either FFA or Team Deathmatch styles. The cool thing about it is that you can also play as one of the ‘secert’ characters! You’ll be able to download them on April 7th, 2009. For Xbox LIVE users, it’ll cost you 400 points, and for PSN users, the price is set to $4.99.

And next, the game that made it to my personal list :  Flock!

flock_boxart.jpg

You’ll get Blanka. Yes, the awesome green dude that bites from Street Fighter series. What the Flock!?, yeah?

The PC version will be availble on April 7th, 2009. Xbox LIVE version on the 8th, and PSN will get it on 9th.

Fun Gaming Facts

In the original arcade Donkey Kong game, Mario was called Jumpman and he was a carpenter, not a plumber.
