Mega Man 10 launches in March

Posted on 02 March 2010 by GillRider

Starting with Mega Man 9, Capcom decided to take it back to the old school 8-bit robot in blue. And now, we have the tenth installment in one of Capcom’s longest and most loved franchise.

And because Mega Man 10 is all old school, there’s not much we need to explain. It’s got all of the classic gameplay mechanics, down to the eight bosses named whatever-man.

Of course, there are some new features as well. Possibly the coolest feature is the ability to play as the mysterious Proto Man from the start. Capcom has also included an “Easy Mode,” for those new to the series, as well as “Mega Man Challenges,” where you can practice and test your mad side-scrolling skills.

Mega Man 10 is available on WiiWare service now. It will be available on the PSN next week, March 11th, and on Xbox LIVE on March 31st.

Dark Void pre-order item: Golden Jetpack

Posted on 31 August 2009 by ClassicMoments

Anyone who would pre-order Dark Void through GameStop will get Golden Jetpack.
What’s so special about it?

Well, first of all, it’s gold.
It’s gotta be better, right?

This item will give you unlimited turbo boost with special moves.
Yup, that’s a little better excuse than the gold bling.

We personally like the way trailer presents the gameplay so far.
You guys should definitely watch it if you’re interested in fast paced third-person shooter.

Spyborgs for Wii screenshots and info

Posted on 27 August 2009 by ClassicMoments

Spyborgs’ new screenshots is in.

Capcom wanted to show off “Docks” level from their upcoming title, Spyborg, and we can kind of see why they would want to show it to us. We can clearly see rough edges due to Wii’s low-res limitation, but the textures and design looks very interesting.

The gameplay will support upto two co-op play. It’s a sci-fi action packed game with 35 stages to challenge the players.

DLC REVIEW – ZEN Pinball: Street Fighter II Tribute Table for PS3

Posted on 21 August 2009 by ClassicMoments

If you have played ZEN Pinball for PS3, you know that it’s simply the best pinball machine simulator out there, you know that it’s fun too. With all its modern pinball technicalities, it’s as good as it gets when it comes to pinball games for gaming consoles. And it looks like ZEN Studio, the developers of ZEN Pinball, aren’t going to stop there.

ZEN Studio announced its first DLC for the ZEN Pinball on PS3, though they took some time before they spilled the beans. It wasn’t a huge deal anyway, since we already knew that many developers are trying to satisfy their fans (and their financial status) by releasing DLCs from time to time. It was almost expected. Almost.

But then we heard it was going to be one of the most respected franchise of all time: Street Fighter II.

Nice. Very nice.

In partnership with Capcom, ZEN Studio promised that gamers will be able to see and feel the originality that Street Fighter II has brought us since its memorable debut. And since we’ve already seen what to expect from our ZEN Pinball review, we will focus more on the DLC instead of the whole game itself.

The Stree Fighter II Tribute Table DLC features a total of nine characters from the SF series; Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Sagat, Akuma, Vega, Balrog and M. Bison. Those are just the playable characters though. There are other characters like Blanka or Zangief that help you out to get boost your score. One of the great things about this DLC is that it uses the original sound effects from the Street Fighter series. Whenever the player  hits a target and hears the sound, it just brings back so many memories (at least those of you old enough to have experienced Street Fighter II in the arcade). All the quarters we invested, that certain aroma only the arcade has, kids having seizures all over the ground.. Ahh, good times.

The table layout is high quality, as expected. It isn’t an exact replica of real-world Street Fighter II pinball machines out there, but with the unlimited resources the in-game environment has, ZEN Studio came up with their own creative design. We’re glad they didn’t go too far to break the physics though; it feels like a genuine ZEN Pinball table that simulates real pinball machines. All the challenges are well balanced to provide many hours of gameplay, and you can relive some old school SF moments like crushing a car with a flurry of kicks and punches or barrels just waiting to be broken into pieces.

With everything well placed and designed, some of us actually wanted more out of it. It’s as good as any ZEN Pinball player would expect, but some might say that it’s just that; it doesn’t go beyond expectations. For the price, ($2.49 US and €1.99 ) it’s understandable that people would want more. It’s a high quality DLC for sure, but considering that some full downloadable games go as low as $5, the price can seem a bit expensive for one table. But then again, this one table translates into many, many hours of gameplay.

This is the first DLC for ZEN Pinball and so far, we love it. The nostalgia effect is just awesome. It is a high quality DLC that both pinball and Street Fighter fans can enjoy, and we can only hope that ZEN Studio brings us more high quality tables.

Our Score: 9 /10

An excellent addition to the great ZEN Pinball tables.

More info on Dark Void revealed

Posted on 19 August 2009 by ClassicMoments

A release date for Capcom’s upcoming sci-fi action/adventure title, Dark Void, has been set. It’ll be released on January 12th 2010 for North America, and January 15th 2010 for Europe.

Haven’t looked into this title yet?
Let us enlighten you with a trailer and a few screenshots, as well as the press release from Capcom:

Dark Void’s unique combination of jetpack-booster aerial dog fighting and third-person combat creates a thrilling new gameplay dynamic to the third-person shooter experience. Taking 3D action to a whole new level, Dark Void’s unique vertical combat system allows players to dangle from thousand foot drops as they take cover and hurl enemies to their doom, bringing a whole new sense of tension and thrill to the player. Will is also equipped with a powerful jet pack which allows for fierce in-air combat, hurtling through the Void at blistering speeds while shooting down anything that gets in his path.

Sounds interesting, huh?
Capcom has been releasing many interesting action games lately, and let’s see if this title follows that trend.

Three Capcom Hits in One Package

Posted on 10 August 2009 by ClassicMoments

SAN MATEO, CAAugust 10, 2009 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced the Platinum Hits Triple Pack for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This affordable collection of three of Capcom’s greatest games for the Xbox 360 will be available for a suggested retail price of $39.99 beginning September 8, 2009.

The Platinum Hits Triple Pack combines Dead Rising®, Lost Planet®: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition, & Devil May Cry® 4 all in one box. Each of these games has been awarded Platinum Hits “Best Seller” status and together have sold over 3 million units in North America alone. Any gamer who had the bad luck of missing these legendary titles, will now have a chance to redeem themselves for a great low price.

Dead Rising is an action horror game that follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist in pursuit of the story of a lifetime. What he finds is a small suburban town completely overrun by zombies. He seeks refuge in the local shopping mall, but soon learns it is far from the safe haven he had thought. Dead Rising takes place over 72 hours, during which Frank must unravel the mystery behind the catastrophe and survive the dangerous swarm of enemies that lie in wait. The unprecedented level of freedom provides players with a vast array of gameplay possibilities to do anything and everything they’ve wanted to do in a mall. Hundreds of unique objects can be used as weapons to fend off the hordes of zombies – everything from golf clubs and baseball bats to cash registers and stuffed animals.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a sci-fi third-person action shooter that offers an amazing single player experience offline and a heart-pounding multiplayer experience online. The adventure takes place on the frozen alien planet E.D.N. III. To survive, gamers will battle snow pirates, gigantic indigenous creatures known as Akrid and harvest the precious thermal energy found inside them. To do this they’ll utilize hi-tech weaponry and Vital Suits (VS ) – gigantic mechs used to traverse the treacherous frozen planet they’re on. In Lost Planet: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition, players get the same compelling single player experience found in the original game, with the addition of three new modes. In Score Attack, all enemies have points assigned to them and the score awarded will change depending on how they are defeated, with skilled marksmen being rewarded. For those who thrive on a challenge, Trial Battle Mode delivers, pitting players against all of the game’s bosses, one after another. Players of both Score Attack and Trial Battle modes will be able to compare their skills and compete for bragging rights via the online ranking system. Finally things get a little crazy with Off Limit Mode which lets players take on Lost Planet’s harsh environments and enemies with over-the-top, super-charged weapons and a powered-up grappling hook. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition was one of the first games to allow cross-platform connectivity from Xbox LIVE® to Games for Windows – LIVE, allowing console and Windows-based PC users to battle it out on the same online battlefield.

Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist, Nero, clashes with Dante, the featured character of the previous Devil May Cry® games. As Nero, players will unleash incredible attacks and non-stop combos using a unique new gameplay mechanic, his powerful “Devil Bringer” arm. Fans of Dante won’t be disappointed as he too will be playable during the course of the game. With the advanced graphics of the current game systems, high definition visuals and intricate detail come to life as players explore new and exotic locales. Dynamic action and undeniable style combine with unprecedented fighting options and a gripping story to produce the incomparable experience that only a Devil May Cry game can deliver.

Bionic Commando swings to Windows PCs

Posted on 28 July 2009 by ClassicMoments

If you somehow experienced the latest Bionic Commando for PS3 or Xbox 360, but only own a PC for the gaming system, your wait is finally over. The PC version of Bionic Commando is here.

Here are some features of Bionic Commando for PC:

  • Use the bionic arm to swing between towering skyscrapers at breathtaking speed, hook onto distant objects, zip up on hanging girders and choose your own route through the game
  • Gameplay that moves through horizontal and vertical environments – a 3D game that truly uses all three dimensions Full multiplayer mode with rich stat-tracking to check whether you’re a true commando or a lowly private
  • Use the power of the bionic arm – and of next-gen physics – to realistically throw massive objects, pummel opponents, whip enemies into the air, or pull the landscape apart
  • Arm yourself with a variety of weapons worthy of a Bionic Commando
  • Starring Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More, as the voice of Nathan Spencer
  • Developed by Swedish studio GRIN, developers of the highly acclaimed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter series for PC

We checked the minimum requirements for this game, and for CPU alone, Capcom recommends dual core. And looks like this game supports DX10 so if you’re lucky enough to own a pimped up PC, you can probably appreciate this title. The price for the PC version is $39.99, and it’s about $20 cheaper than the console versions.

And if you still have not played the popular remake of old version, Bionic Commando Rearmed, you can also bundle it up with this title for $44.99 on Steam. It sure can save up some money being a PC gamers these days.

A comic book spin-off of Killzone was once in the pipeline, but failed to materialise after its publisher went bankrupt.
