I’ve mentioned before my love for horror films. Being born and raised in Japan, I especially love J-horror. In J-horror, it’s all about the atmosphere. There’s rarely any gore or action. The pace, music, and tone really bring the creepiness up to an extreme, and only at the end do you truly see what you’ve been really scared about. So it brings me much joy to see games like Calling come out.

Like Siren or the Fatal Frame series, Calling is a horror game inspired by the Japanes Horror genre. The premise of the game is actually a bit unclear, which only adds to the mystery you are tasked to unfold. Calling revolves around mysterious website called “Black Page,” which is rumored to suck the living into the Mnemonic Abyss.
Through the eyes of four protagonists, you must seek the truth behind the “Black Page,” and escape the Mnemonic Abyss before an untimely death.
This type of game actually looks like it could be perfect for the Wii. You will be using flash lights, phones, and other items to navigate your way through the Mnemonic Abyss. This seems like the perfect set-up for the Wii Remote, and I can definitely see it adding to the experience. As you’ll see in the trailer, it looks like you might even be taking phone calls via the speaker on the Wii Remote! That definitely brings the atmosphere into the real world.
As a J-horro junkie, it looks like I’m definitely going to have to give this game a try. Calling is available now at a decent price of $39.99. Check it!
