Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for console

Oh man was I excited to hear this news! Capcom has announced that they will be releasing a new Resident Evil for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC titled Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City takes place during the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3, at the heart of Raccoon City. You take the role of an Umbrella Security Service soldier (U.S.S.), under the orders of Umbrella, to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors (I wonder if this means you’re gonna be Hunk?). On the opposing end, you have your slew of zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s) as well as a government issued special forces team tasked to uncover evidence and expose Umbrella. Naturally, you’ll be seeing many familiar locals from Resident Evil 2 and 3, as well as many familiar faces like Leon S. Kennedy, on your hit list.

Operation Raccoon City will be quite a different experience in terms of gameplay. This will be third person team based shooter. I’m not sure if that means the gameplay is going to be like RE5, with more characters, or more like a tactical unit type gameplay, where you can specifically command the other characters. It will also feature a number of competitive online multiplayer modes, featuring battles between teams, and between B.O.W.s.

And one additional note. For those who purchase Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will also have access to a playable demo of Resident Evil: Revelations, where the player can control Jill and explore an ocean liner.

Lot’s of exciting news for all RE fans! Hurray!

Fun Gaming Facts

Sony's beautiful monster-toppling adventure game Shadow Of The Colossus was originally going to feature groups of characters on horseback working to take down the colossi cooperatively. This proved too taxing for the PS2's hardware, sadly.
