DLC REVIEW – ZEN Pinball: Paranormal Table (PS3)

Posted on 18 October 2010 by ClassicMoments

ZEN Pinball for PS3 is known for its physics engine and is appreciated by true pinball machine fans. And with numerous DLCs available for download, ZEN Pinball is never-stopping fun for sure.

The latest DLC for ZEN Pinball we’re going to tell you about is Paranormal table. Yes, the title says it all, and it’s what you would expect from it. Or is it…?

We’re not going to explain much about ZEN Pinball’s awesome gameplay or control. We’ve covered that way too many times in every ZEN Pinball DLC in the past. There’d be no point of explaining how awesome ZEN Pinball is over and over again. We’ll only point out the differences we can tell from other DLCs.

Previous DLCs of ZEN Pinball have stayed true to its nature of being fun as an awesome pinball table simulation; but this one is wild and extraordinary. The common spooky theme you would expect from the title are all there, but the Paranormal table throws in something that cannot be done in a real-life pinball machine, and even if it was possible, it would have to be a state-of-the-art craftsmanship. With 10 flippers, crazy mini playing fields and a place where gravity works opposite of what you’re used to, this table is nothing short of unique. When Zen Studio claimed Paranormal DLC to be the sum of wild imaginations, they weren’t kidding.

If we have to talk about designs and audio, they’re about satisfactory. It’s more on the mysterious-kind-of-spooky mood rather than a scary paranormal activity theme. We’re not complaining much here though because gameplay is where this DLC really shines. The table won’t give you that much of a hard time scoring points, but the real fun is finding all the secret (and addictive) playing fields. Nothing is what it seems on the Paranormal DLC, and we love it so far. The DLC is available on PSN and will be priced at $2.49 so if you have spare change, we suggest you to try it out!

Our Score: 8.5 /10

A perfect addition to the ZEN Pinball DLC collection.
